The International Workshop on the Management of Forest Invasive Species in Tamil Nadu was organized to address the challenges posed by invasive species like Prosopis juliflora. The workshop aimed to develop integrated policy recommendations for managing these species through stakeholder engagement. It included technical sessions and discussions with various stakeholders such as administrators, industrialists, environmentalists, scientists, and farmers. Key recommendations included implementing a phased removal strategy, developing local management plans, conducting scientific analysis and spatial mapping, promoting livelihood alternatives, and focusing on research and policy development. The workshop emphasized the need for an evidence-based approach to ensure sustainable management and decision-making regarding invasive species in Tamil Nadu.
