Subramaniam presented the budget for 1958-59. “In the Cauvery delta and the channel-fed areas with an assured supply of water, the yield is reported to be good in spite of insect pests in certain pockets. In North Arcot, South Arcot and Salem districts, the area under paddy was restricted due to water scarcity.”
